Crafting a Stronger Community

The Workshop by TBK Bank is a member-supported, community-based maker space providing access to woodworking equipment, metal fabrication equipment, 3-D printers, laser cutters, and more in Dallas, Texas.

As a member of the Workshop you have a place to learn new skills, practice your craft, and put your talents to use. Whether you join to support your hobby or you are looking to start your own company, there is something for everyone here and all are invited. Novice members of The Workshop can learn through a variety of trainings and classes that will be held onsite – no experience required.

While the core of our operations exist to serve members, our heart is to serve our community. From the beginning, the hope for The Workshop has been to be a blessing to the city of Dallas. The Workshop will provide a tuition-free pre-apprenticeship program for adults seeking the skills necessary to pursue a job in the building trades. This program’s goal is to prepare community members for the job site and help them gain the knowledge and skills current employers are seeking, without the financial burden or requirement of becoming a Workshop member. The Workshop will also offer a wide variety of programming for youth in our city – from robotics, to welding, to woodworking, and beyond. Introducing young people to these disciplines will expose them to opportunities and fair-wage jobs available following high school graduation.

The Workshop provides the tools, knowledge, and connections to foster a community of creation, innovation, and success. We exist for our members and to serve the city of Dallas.

Giving Back

Giving back is a big part of who we are at TBK Bank, and The Workshop is no different. The founding hope in creating The Workshop is to develop a way to support the community and community members in Dallas by providing a way for residents to receive training and certification to pursue a career in the building trades.

We are constantly giving back with our time, skills and sponsorships

Serving our Community

Following the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic worldwide, the Workshop went into action to produce face shields to be donated to different organizations in the community. The first shipment of face masks was shipped to Prowers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado, where TBK Bank has a bank branch. The Workshop was also able to produce enough face shields to give to a group of local non-profits working with the homeless population in Dallas. Groups who received face shields included The Human Impact, Our Calling, and Austin Street Center.
