Forge the Future

FORGE THE FUTURE is a program for adults who want to pursue a job in the construction industry. Plumbers, framers, electricians, welders, heavy equipment operators and others are in high demand, but employers need new recruits to be skilled in specific areas. Working with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and local building trades leaders, The Workshop has developed FORGE THE FUTURE to equip motivated individuals with the key skills needed to enter their chosen field and be successful. With 53% of seasoned workers retiring in the next 15 years*, the need for a skilled workforce will continue to increase for the foreseeable future.

FORGE THE FUTURE consists of 160 hours of coursework, which includes everything from lecture time and hands-on learning to guest speakers and field trips. The program provides participants with nationally recognized credentials, including an OSHA 10 card and a NCCER Core Certification, plus connections to local business leaders to help facilitate job opportunities.

The Workshop has relationships with industry leaders and FORGE THE FUTURE has been designed to train participants in exactly the skills employers are looking for in their preferred new-hires. Participants in FORGE THE FUTURE must be at least 18 years old, authorized to work in the USA, and motivated to complete the entire four week program.

The Workshop is a Community Development Project of TBK Bank with a mission to serve the city of Dallas through building trade education, a community makerspace, youth camps, and nonprofit relationships. The Workshop’s FORGE THE FUTURE program is a big part of TBK Bank’s commitment to serving others, and all involved are looking forward to how the community will be impacted through it for years to come.
