FORGE THE FUTURE is a program for adults who want to pursue a job in the construction industry. Plumbers, framers, electricians, welders, heavy equipment operators and others are in high demand, but employers need new recruits to be skilled in specific areas. Working with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and local businesses, The Workshop has developed a program to equip motivated individuals with the basic skills needed to enter their chosen field and be successful.

The program is 100+ hours of coursework which includes everything from lecture time and hands-on learning to guest speakers and field trips. The total cost is $200* per student, but those who complete the program will receive over $400 worth of tools geared toward their chosen career. The program provides participants with nationally recognized credentials, including an OSHA 10 card and an NCCER Core Certification, plus connections to local business leaders to help facilitate job opportunities.

Based on what employers expect from job applicants, participants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and be authorized to work in the USA.

The Workshop is a Community Development Project of TBK Bank with a mission to serve the city of Dallas through building trade education, a community makerspace, youth camps, and nonprofit relationships. The Workshop’s FORGE THE FUTURE program is a big part of TBK Bank’s commitment to serving others, and all involved are looking forward to how the community will be impacted for years to come.
